Biodegradação de resíduos orgânicos utilizando indivíduos da espécie Nauphoeta cinerea (Oliver, 1789)

Abstract

Livestock production and fish farming has increasingly needed new technologies, due to the high cost and environmental impacts of raw materials, such as soybeans and corn for feed production. With that in mind, this work aimed to seek an alternative as a way to mitigate environmental impacts using a new source of cheap raw material of the species Nauphoeta cinerea. During a period of 28 days, to measure the growth of individuals in order to verify their potential as a source of food in livestock, nine experiments were carried out, all with 10 individuals in each experiment with sufficient food availability for them. The percentage increase in the mass of greater expressions was from experiments 6, 7 and 9 respectively with 33%, 36% and 59%. The values obtained demonstrate that cockroaches of the Nauphoeta cinerea species can be used as a food source for livestock, due to its high mass growth and its high crude protein value.
