Resumen
Sustainability is a guiding principle, which has become essential and necessary, however there are many difficulties in its implementation, which requires a convergence between the pillars of economic development, social equity and environmental protection. The imminent danger of scarcity of natural resources and the threat to current biodiversity are concerning. The changes and the inclusion of sustainable public policies should be prioritized, as well as the involvement of political leadership and citizen engagement. The lack of action by the government is aggravated by economic growth, where the indiscriminate consumption dominates. Structural changes should be planned to address all levels of consumerism and the rampant use of natural resources. In this current scenario, one must consider the strategic role of government in the adoption of sustainable development, especially because being a large consumer of goods. It is up to him to encourage and propose changes, develop projects and actions that encourage excellence in environmental management. Implementation of A3P in public institutions is intended to insert a new institutional culture in the Administration, besides improving the use of natural resources, reducing waste, sensitizing employees to environmental issues and encouraging the development of new products.
