Resumen
Brazil is the fifth country in the world in the clothing industry, which is the one that most pollutes the environment. The pollutants emitted by it cover liquid effluents, emissions of gases, particles, solid wastes, odors and noise. In addition, the environmental impact occurs throughout the cycle of clothing production and consumption. It is possible to introduce the guidelines of sustainability from the production of the fibers to the disposal of waste and final product, opening up a range of possibilities for changing attitudes in fashion. Considering these factors, the study turns to the valorization of regionalism, as an activist component of changes. The use of regional components could be a possible solution for the reduction of pollutants generated by transporting materials, as well as the use of biodegradable raw materials, natural dyes and fibers. The objective of this study is to evaluate if the use of regional products can effectively benefit the environment by reducing the environmental impacts generated by the clothing industry. For this, a survey of the natural materials used to make clothing specifically produced in the northern region of Parana will be carried out.
