Resumen
In this research study, different aspects are raised that relate to the archetypal character femme fatale present in the works of Oscar Wilde and how this element was transferred to the texts of João do Rio. With this focus, we believe that the imagetic intertextuality of the indicated aesthetic element can configure it is a significant foundation for the researcher of wildeano dramatic texts, due to the immense importance of the author and his criticisms in the English scenery that passed through for the Brazilian belle époque through this resource, particularly in the work of the writer Paulo Barreto (João do Rio). Therefore, we selected the theater plays A woman of no importance (1893) and An ideal husband (1895), by Oscar Wilde, to compare them with the texts by João do Rio: A bela Madame Vargas (1912) and Eva (19- ?). In this way, the following objectives are listed: to explore the existing critical fortune about the selected works and the authors; emphasize Wildeana literary production as well as the context of production and reception of the source polysystems, incorporating a reading of the decadentist aesthetic and the first records of the femme fatale archetype in the context of the reception of the Brazilian belle époque; list some of the source polysystems in order to verify which are the possible influences of decadentist literary aesthetics and of Wilde's social environment, which affect the conception of his literature; undertake research on the work of João do Rio, its context of production, and with special emphasis on the texts listed; to present a comparative analysis between archetypal characters Wildeano and the paulobarretianos present in the selected plays, with the intention of verifying the maintenance of Wildeana criticism by João do Rio, and the intertextuality between them. Based on this, the methodology focuses on a comparative analysis of the source texts of Oscar Wilde with the texts of João do Rio, in which we verified the transfer of the stylistic element of the femme fatale characteristic of the decadentist aesthetic to the Brazilian literary polysystem. The results obtained provide the material basis for our study and support our main thesis on the existence of an imagetic intertextuality resulting from the transit of the archetypal character between the different polysystems, through the cultural and aesthetic transfer of this female archetype. For that, we gathered a theoretical framework pertaining to Translation Studies and Comparative Literature to support the subjects related to the context of the authors, in which we seek support in the texts of Daniel Salvatore Schiffer (2010), Gentil Luiz de Faria (1988), Mirian Ruffini (2015) among others. Regarding the treatment of linguistic and translation issues, we used the meanings presented by André Lefevere (2007) and Itamar Even-Zohar (1990), with an emphasis on aesthetic and cultural transfers existing in different polysystems. For considerations about influence and intertextuality, we seek support in the text by Sandra Nitrini (2015) and Gerard Genette (2010). Regarding our chapter of comparative analysis of archetypal characters, we used the texts of Chirley Domingues (1998) and Brenda Grazielle Silva Trindade (2019), in addition to other theorists who can contribute to our discussions.
