Cores made with magnetic materials are broadly use in several areas of application Electrical Engineering, such as electrical machines and power electronics. Analyzing systems containing these magnetic cores is complex due to the nonlinear behavior of the magnetic material. This non-linear behavior is represented by magnetization curve, showing flow variations by varying the magnetic field. To facilitate the study and analysis of systems with magnetic cores considering their non-linear behavior, it is important to use mathematical models that help to represent the effect of core’s saturation. Based on this, the objective of this work is to model magnetization curve of ferromagnetic materials by means of mathematical models and to show the behavior of inductors in an electric circuit. For implementing these models, an experimental test was necessary to obtain the magnetization curves of the studied materials. With the data obtained from the magnetization curve, each model was implemented in a computational algorithm. For testing the algorithm and model of the magnetization, curve an electrical circuit was modeled having a resistor and an inductor. The equations of the electric circuit and the magnetic flux are solved, resulting in the waveforms of current and voltage in the inductor. To validate and verify the simulation results, an experimental RL circuit was used.
