Resumen
The elements that are part of the composite structure of steel and concrete, have their mechanical properties affected when exposed to elevated temperatures, which reduces their physical strength, what may lead to the collapse of the structure. Based on that, this study analysis numerically the performance of shear connectors both on room temperature and under high temperatures. The structure was simulated by the computational code ANSYS v16.0, numerical models where elaborated, composed of three-dimensional elements, that simulate the behavior of the materials that compose the structural system, along with the simulation of the interface between the two materials. The first results were obtained in room temperature and compared with experimental data from related publications, in order to verify the representativeness of the model. The models were then extrapolated through the application of thermal gradient, in order to analyze the behavior of the shear connectors at high temperatures. The acquired results show that, due to the distinct thermal behavior of steel and concrete materials, the shear interface fails for temperatures that are inferior to the respective values of collapse for each material individually.
