Resumen
Contact Mechanics is responsible to understand the deformations, dislocations and stresses associated to solids in contact. This knowledge is necessary in order to avoid problems, such as irreversible deformation or contact fatigue that may occur in a material. Through the observation of roughness in the material, is possible to notice that the contact between surfaces do not occur in all the extension of the contact area. This lack in the contact area is responsible for stresses in the material, which may reach values that surpass what is expected, consequently causing plastic deformations, and fatigue failure before expected. Furthermore, the contact between solids is related to variables such as heat transfer, friction and wear. With this in mind, this theme has interested many scientists, since the pioneer theory of Hertz in 1882. We can already determinate values for tension and deformation that happens in the material, with this in mind, this work has the objective of validate the model shown by Seabra and see if this model can be applied to real surfaces.
