Resumen
The combination of the significant impermeable surfaces’ increase and the vegetation’s removal caused by urban growth can overload the drainage systems resulting in flooding, therefore, it is necessary to use methodologies to identify areas that need interventions based on sustainable drainage systems. Thereby, the objective of this work was to evaluate the German method Biotope Area Factor - BAF for the application of Low Impact Development (LID) in central area’s lots, inserted in a frequent flooding point in the city of Londrina-PR. With the aid of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and obtaining the history of flooding in the county, the area of flooding’s influence point was defined and subsequently the BAF methodology was applied with and without the LID's propositions. From Londrina’s central area, using the BAF classification methodology, inadequate index values were found and that with the implementation of permeable pavements and green roofs or with the proposition of new surface’s types listed in the methodology, such as the rainwater harvesting for reserve, can minimize the impacts of conventional drainage. It was concluded that the studied area needs LID applications in order to have an adequate BAF Index and possibly reduce the flooding’s incidence. Thus, the application of the BAF method in the city of Londrina-PR can be implemented by the City Hall with the use of urban policies that encourage the use of land with new surface’s types associated with the LID and the consideration in the BAF of rainwater reserve, mainly for urban central areas.
