Resumen
Nowadays there is a great consumption of electric energy due to the technological progress achieved and, therefore, it has been tried so much to increase the supply of electricity as to diminish its necessity. Therefore it is investigated on how to equate better this balance between supply and demand without contracting environmental debits. It is believed that one of the means available to achieve this balance is through the use of clean and renewable energy sources. The intensification of the use of solar energy either for the generation of electric energy or for the heating ofwater for consumption in buildings has the objective of reducing dependence on fossil fuels. In the use of solar thermal energy in residential buildings for the heating of water for consumption can choose more than one type of solar collector according to the particularities of each project. This work presents a theoretical study that aims to compare two types of solar collectors commercially available in the Brazilian market, flat plate collectors and vacuum tube collectors. The methodology used follows the recommendations of NBR 15569 and the parameters according to the material released by INMETRO. And, the results are evaluated from a comparison between the costs when using one or another type of collector besides the time of investment return of each collector studied. It was observed that flat plate collectors seem to be the option with the best cost benefit according to the parameters used in this study.
