Resumen
Wood is used in a variety of ways in construction, but it is highly susceptible to attack by biologic agents, which consequently diminishes its durability. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out the preservative treatment of the wood, increasing its life time. In order to analyze the effect of the CCA-type preservative treatment of Eucalyptus urograndis wood an experimental program was developed to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the treated and untreated lumber and single shear lag screw connection capacity. The results were compared with the estimative of NBR 7190 (ABNT, 1997), EUROCODE (CEN, 2004) and NDS (AWC, 2015) standards. Treated lumber presented compressive strength parallel to grains higher than untreated, despite apparent density was lower. The treatment of the wood increases connection capacity at service limit state, but for the rupture the untreated wood presents higher values. The estimate of standard codes were lower than values obtained experimentally.
