Resumen
Concrete is a porous material and thus allows the absorption of water in its structure. This feature can adversely affect the life of the structures and, in order to extend the life of a building, waterproofing systems must be provided to protect the structures against harmful action on water. With this, concrete additives can be added to concrete additives that can act in different ways, but their main effect is to make the concrete waterproof, that is, to avoid moisture. The waterproofing agents form a physical barrier against the propagation of moisture and prevent infiltration. The main mechanical characteristics of the concrete are: compressive strength, tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. However, depending on its chemical composition, there may be changes in the characteristics of the concrete. In this context, the present work intends to contribute to the understanding of the behavior of the concrete block with the waterproofing A, submitted to compression test. Due to the lack of knowledge about this product, it is intended to verify its effectiveness and to analyze possible changes in the resistance of the concrete. For this, tests were carried out to measure the concrete characteristics produced without additives, and with additive A and B. For the case under study it was possible to conclude that both additives interfered in the concrete characteristics. By analyzing the additives used in the research, the B additive presented more detrimental characteristics (workability, absorption index, compressive strength and modulus of elasticity) than the A additive. Moreover, in the analysis of the absorption index, the concrete produced without additives presented better results than the concrete produced with B.
