Resumen
Triclosan is a substance that fits the criteria of micropollutants and it is commonly found in hygiene articles such as soaps, dental creams and washers. It represents a high risk for its influence in environmental matrices is little known and its removal on the WWTP is almost null. This project presents an alternative process for triclosan removal: the application of heterogenic photo catalysis using as a photo catalyst titanium dioxide having for a goal the degradation of triclosan. For such, the optimal conditions for this reaction were investigated through a batch reactor and then applied to a continuous reactor. In both reactors triclosan has shown an elevated percentage of degradation. This method is presented thus as very effective.
