Gênero e formato: o mundo segundo os brasileiros na televisão

Abstract

The mass media compete nowadays with new informational platforms, which offer on-demand content. In order to keep the audience’s interests, there is a movement of adaptation and restructuration regarding genres and programs formats, and encouraging the testing of new formats, by combining features of genres already consecrated by the audience. “O mundo segundo os brasileiros” is a TV series, which presents many countries around the globe through the regard of Brazilian migrants who live in those places. The main goal of this work is to analyze to what genre and format this program fits in, having as reference a new trend of production and content for television. We use as theoretical reference authors such as Dennis McQuail, Raymond Williams, Arlindo Machado and Bill Nichols.
