Resumen
This study aims to develop proposal to replace the pavement in the bus stops in Pato Branco – PR. In order to do so, it was designed a structure capable of supporting the applied forces from the maximum loads per active traffic axis, which was also able to support the braking and acceleration of the buses, the vehicles that request the bus stops pavement the most. That being the case, the proposed design of the rigid pavement structure comprehend the methodology used in Brazil, from Portland Cement Association (PCA) from 1984. It is possible to use rigid pavement in areas intended to large repetitive efforts, mainly originated from the action of static heavy loads, when taking due care to the foundation ground studies and to the specified underlying materials. The terrain investigation was performed by characterizing the soil in a specified point of the city, thus obtaining the sub-base coefficient of settlement due to correlation with the subgrade coefficient of settlement, a fundamental parameter to the design. The traffic study, another essential parameter to design the structure, was conducted through manual volumetric counting, performed by the author. A joint project was designed, to compose de proposal in rigid pavement, along with its respective detailing and specification, comprehending the transverse load transfer bars arrangement, necessary due to traffic and pavement dimensions. At the end, it was estimated the unitary cost of the proposal to replace the flexible pavement by the rigid pavement in the bus stops of Pato Branco – PR. This proposal was elaborated to mitigate the occurrence of apparent defects in these places, as well as the number of interventions realized in the existent pavement, which usually causes inconveniences to local traffic.
