Resumen
The use of natural coagulants in coagulation presents as a promising alternative for substituting or assisting in chemical coagulants due to its numerous advantages. This work evaluates the effectiveness in the use of natural coagulant in water treatment. The coagulant was extracted from the Zygia cauliflora (Willd.) Killip seed. Different concentrations of the coagulant (0,1; 0,5; 1; 2; 3; 4 g.L-1) were used for the tests, as well as different concentrations of salt NaCl (1M and 5M). The results showed that the use of 2 g.L-1 of the coagulant and 1M of the salt for the Zygia cauliflora (Willd.) Killip achieved an effectiveness of 30,4% and 74,5% of color and turbidity removal, respectively. When removing the UV254, the analysis showed an effectiveness of 70,2% in the same parameters. Hence, future work lines should focus on the use of Zygia cauliflora (Willd.) Killip. as an alternative for replacing or using as an auxiliary chemical coagulant.
