Estudo do número de mamografias e incidência de câncer de mama no Paraná

Abstract

The breast cancer for being a type of cancer that show visible signs when in an advanced stagehas been object of study since antiquity. In the 90′s, began the movement to raise awarenessand fight against breast cancer, called Pink October, with the Pink Ribbon as symbol and is stilla worldwide action in the fight against this cancer. Despite the efforts of prevention and combatprograms, breast cancer is the type that most affects women in Brazil, excluding non-melanomaskin cancer. In order to contribute to the understanding of some variables associated with breastcancer, the objective of this study is to analyze the ratio between the number of mammogramsand the number of women in the regions of Paran ́a and the ratio between the number of nodulesand the number of mammograms in the period from June 2009 to June of 2013, seeking possiblerelations with the explanatory variables degree of urbanization, GDP, gross income and numberof doctors. Using multiple linear regression models in the presence of random effects under theBayesian and frequentist approach, it was observed evidence at the 0.05 level of significancethat the lower the GDP the higher the ratio of the number of nodules by the number of testsfound in a region.
