Implantação de uma rede de acesso GPON

Abstract

The purpose of this monograph is to describe how it would implement a passive optical network GPON. It shows the advantages of a passive network if it is compared to a conventional access network. A brief literature review is written, which describes the main protocols PON like GPON technology. This one is the focus of this research, so it is explained in detail. Illustrative figures, extracted from a software management of network elements, help to explain step by step how are configured the main equipments of this technology, such as OLT and ONT equipments. In a Telecommunications Company’s laboratory, practical tests were made. Because of these, it is possible to simulate and analyze the main services which are usually delivered from the companies to their customers. These services are: data, voice and video, and they are also known as Triple play services. They are both transported in a same optical fiber and they are both delivered in the same equipment (ONU), which is installed in the home user. Finally are reported the results obtained through this work and some difficulties if a GPON access network is chosen.
