Abstract
This study assumes that the school is crucial in the process of formation of the
citizen, and cannot be away from environmental issues and fundamental objective is
to observe how the discussion has taken place within the school environment. It is
observed that the school takes on more and more importance, because it must form
citizens aware, participatory and supportive. For this it is necessary that the school
strengthens the responsibility to Act also in the environmental area, we must make
room for teachers to work the true environmental education, one that works with
environmental awareness, one that takes the student to reflect on their attitudes.
Field lessons, schools, environmental ethics, and other various subjects that go
beyond treating about garbage, recycling and pollution (topics approached with more
frequency), should be part of school life of the students. However, it was observed
that in field research conducted with five public school teachers the city of
Conselheiro Mairinck-PR., that they recognize the importance and have awareness
about the need to work on the topic related to the environment. The methodology
used for the realization of the research was the bibliographical research and fieldwork
research was qualitative and descriptive character by applying questionnaires with
open questions in order to observe the programmatic practices of teachers of
elementary school in relation to attitudes, methodologies, projects and vision on the
topic related to the environment. It was noted at the end of the research that the
collaborators/teachers have knowledge and awareness on the subject, but are limited
by the public education system, believe that it is important to prepare future citizens
more aware about the responsibility of preservation and the relationship of man with
the natural environment.
