Resumen
The scenario of the Brazilian asphalt pavement previses changes. The new method for dimensioning road structures in development, considering a mechanistic-empirical routine, which seeks to replace the current method considering the development of more rational methods of sizing. The present study aims to present an alternative for dimensioning a contour for cargo traffic that crosses the city of Itapejara D ’Oeste through the PR-493 highway, comparing the alternatives for the location. For then were done topographic surveys were carried out by georeferencing, traffic survey, route definition, laboratory tests to define subgrade soil characteristics, characterization of the results found and the dimensioning of the flexible pavement structure by the method of the Departamento Nacional de Estradas e Rodagem (DNER), this being compared and simulations in the MeDiNa software according to the conditions adopted in view of the due to de lack of parameters of the materials used in the dimensioning. It can be seen the significant difference in the use of the two methods, while the DNER aims only to protect the subgrade from excessive plastic deformations, the MeDiNa performs the analysis and dimension of pavements through by studying the multiple layers of materials that make up the pavement. In this study, comparison between the sizing, showed that structures dimensioned by the dimensioning method, still in force, of flexible pavements of the extinct DNER, when submitted to a detailed analysis by MeDiNa can point out deficiencies in the pavement, even before reaching the estimated design period. The mechanistic-empirical method used in the MeDiNa software allows the designer to foresee possible scenarios of the pavement performance over time, ensuring the rational use of materials and building floors with better use for the user throughout the project period.
