Resumen
This present study had the objective of monitoring, over four months, the water quality from the rainwater in three different residential building reservoirs in the municipal region of Curitiba (PR). The analysis was based on the parameters of quality established by the Brazilian Association of Technical Norms (ABNT) NBR 15527/2007 and methodologies Standard Method described in the reading. The residential buildings selected for this study, designated A, B, and C, were chosen for the fact that they were the first buildings in Curitiba (PR) to precede requirements of the PURAE, and possess a system that utilizes the rainwater for non-potable consumption, which has been analyzed in previous studies. The results from the reservoir from Building A indicated, in previous studies, high concentrations of total and thermotolerant coliforms, beyond the highest values of the limits established by the ABNT for turbidity and apparent color. However, Building A’s reservoir was unavailable and was not evaluated in this stage. In Building B, the results also indicate concentrations of total and thermotolerant coliforms, and values of apparent color and pH superior to the limit set by the ABNT. Currently, Building C presents values superior to the standards set by the ABNT only in total and thermotolerant coliforms. It was possible to observe a significant reduction in the coliform concentration in Building C, while simultaneously observing an increase in Building B. These results do not indicate that the rainwater from Building B is unsuitable for non-potable consumption; however, it is recommended that a disinfectant be utilized in the treatment.
