Resumen
The present work intends to present, through bibliographic research, the importance of understanding what is behind the low income of lowincome children. It seeks to discuss possible causes of school failure and what can interfere in this context. The objective is to analyze the causes and factors that affect the school performance of these students, thusoffering for those involved in the learningprocess the possibility to better deal with the living condition of their students. Seeing the reality lived by their students can allow teachers to transmit knowledge more efficiently. In most of the time thesestudents have no interest in acquiring, knowing and understanding the contents offered by teachers, for lack of family encouragement or even the school itself for discrediting those students who live on the margins of society. The knowledge of the variousconditions that a student may face can enable the contents to be taught more within their reality. Many of the conditions can affect development, such as: malnutrition, family conditions, lack of basic sanitation, homelessness, absence of parents and family. Strategies have been suggested so that students have greater learning possibilities, analyzing the factors and causes of low performance.
