Medições de ozônio troposférico no campus central da UTFPR, Curitiba, PR

Abstract

The ozone formed in the troposphere, in contrast to that formed at higher layers, it constitutes a pollutant and is harmful to the life in general and various kinds of materials. This study aimed to determine the concentrations of this pollutant in the central campus of Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), Curitiba, PR, in the months of September and October 2011, through passive sampling using cellulose filters impregnated with indigo blue dye. The analytical results obtained by spectrophotometric determination of indigo bleaching by ozone were compared with data provided by Paraná Environment Institute (IAP) and shown to be consistent when analyzed together. Therefore most of the rates achieved at UTFPR are greater than those obtained in the IAP. There were also significant differences between the ozone concentrations obtained in different locations of the headquarters of UTFPR, with violation of the standard primary, secondary and caution level.
