Resumen
Sensory-motor disability affects more than 2 million people in Brazil and compromises the realization of simple tasks on a daily basis. The use of orthoses provides an opportunity to mitigate disability, as well as facilitate the independent execution of daily tasks. However, obtaining an orthosis is a challenge for those in need, especially for children who need to be constantly changing their orthoses as they grow. The manufacturing of orthoses by 3D printing is one of the possible solutions because it reduces the final cost of the product. The process of manufacturing orthoses by 3D printing involves the acquisition of body surface data through scanning, treatment of the 3D surface obtained and 3D printing of the orthesis. The scanning step is a critical step because the data must be obtained accurately to enable adequate orthotic modeling. One of the options for the data acquisition step is indirect scanning. It is possible to make a template of the patient's limb and from there to scan and model the orthosis. However, the geometry of the template may present difficulties for the scanning and therefore it is necessary to study which scanning system has the best results. This work will analyze the data acquisition of a test specimen designed to have geometries similar to those found in the templates used as the basis for orthotic modeling. The systems to be evaluated will be the Next Engine, Xbox 360 Kinect, Kinect Xbox One and the Remake program. To be analyzed are the technical specifications and basic parameters of the systems, the user experience in the use of the system, the visual quality and the dimensional deviations and distortions in the scanning. Finally, it will be shown which scanning system has the best cost-benefit ratio.
