Resumen
Real estate investment is traditionally well seen in Brazilian’s common sense, and direct property acquisition is the most ordinary form of investment in real estate. Given this context, this study presented real estate investments funds as an alternative for individual investor, addressing its main features and costs, and comparing it to property acquisition. Through a qualitative approach, supported by bibliographic and documental research, it was possible to clear advantages and disadvantages of those investment modalities. In addition, through history of key indices that references its assets, it was analyzed the market performance where they are inserted. From what was studied, it is possible to infer that real estate investment funds have advantages over property acquisition, and these advantages mainly occur considering its low taxation and costs, and due to real estate investment funds mitigate investment risk by diversification.
