Resumen
Derived from the undergraduate research entitled "Study of some marks of the patriarchal order in Brazilian novels", this dissertation aims to analyze the works Lucíola (1862) and Senhora (1875), by José de Alencar, in the social context of the current patriarchal context on the nineteenth century. The objective is to show how the author sought, through the female representations present in his characters, to make a social denunciation of the bourgeoisie marked by the patriarchal order and by a hypocritical spirit in the life of relationship. In this perspective of reading, the focus is on the investigation of the double character of Lúcia / Maria da Glória, heroine of the novel (lady and courtesan), in relation to the Brazilian historical moment and its attempt to ascend to the bourgeois sphere, made unfeasible by the circumstance of belonging To the sphere of prostitution. It will also be investigated the presence of the fetishization present in Mrs. Aurelia Camargo and her relationship with the aristocratic class. Among the main theorists used in this research of the Alencarian work, the names of Mary Del Priore (2011), Luís Filipe Ribeiro (1996) and Roberto Damatta (1997) stand out for the adoption of an optics that values literary, historical
and sociological elements.
