Construção de mosaicos utilizando a linguagem de programação SCRATCH como ferramenta para o ensino de geometria plana

Abstract

For years, studies in the field of Mathematics Education have shown us how mathematical knowledge develops more completely when students are faced with situations that take fullest advantage of their ability to solve problems. The logic of programming, by the Scratch language, which is aimed at children and youths, is a versatile tool for teaching and understanding various mathematical concepts. This tool allows us to develop activities in several areas. Specifically in the field of Plane Geometry, one possibility is the use of Scratch for the construction of mosaics with regular polygons. In this way, the objective of this work is to present some activities, using the Scratch programming language, so that teachers might better incorporate the concepts and properties of polygons into the studies of students in their final years of Elementary School.
