Resumen
Currently, individuals are undergoing various changes in the sectors of society, bringing significant ruptures in life forms, and education can not be indifferent to these changes. The quest for an egalitarian education, which respects social, economic and cultural differences, is being disseminated pedagogically throughout the ages. Thus, it becomes opportune to explore, study, and apply educational methods for improving education. This work involved studies on non-formal education, articulated with methods of formal education, specifically in Science Teaching, such as Teaching Chemistry, which can be taught not only through institutionalized education, but through non-formal education processes, using of subjects and reality to which a community coexists, thus being able to teach them contents of scientific, technological, social and environmental interest. Therefore, this work, using the formal and non-formal education modalities and through the study object "used cooking oil", developed in two Assistance Units, had as objectives to articulate the two modalities of education, to contextualize, to problematize, to stimulate and to relate Chemistry to the exposed problem and the impacts on society. The results showed that the articulation between the mentioned education modalities, together with the participation of this public, which could express their curiosities, critics, questionings, not only accepting a transfer of knowledge and participating in an integrated way, provided positive results for the process of education and brought them new knowledge. Finally, they presented possible actions and practices for the problem, evidencing that articulation between the applied education modalities, contributed to the achievement of objectives, promoting the construction of a scientific knowledge, ample, diverse and collective.
