Resumen
The aim of this work was to develop and characterize a particulate composite with magnetic properties for the application of an electromagnetic actuator for vibration control. The composite development was focused on the manufacture process, specifically on the particle distribution. Furthermore, specimens were separated in groups divided by particle sizes to evaluate the influence of the magnetic particles granulometry in the composite properties. The evaluation of the magnetic composite properties was focused on the mechanical characteristics, tensile and flexural, magnetic and adhesion. In order to evaluate and validate the tests, standardized specimens were tested as well. Flexural properties showed increasing elasticity modulus for the composite materials compared to the pure epoxy specimens, moreover, the most rigid material was the one with the smallest particle sizes. The tensile test results presented inferior properties for all doped samples. Tensile and flexural strain values were acquired with digital image correlation (DIC). Throughout this work, it was shown that the developed magnetic composites has interesting properties for electromagnetic applications, once it possess a magnetic response and a relative small density.
