Resumen
The study compares three methods of surveying used to collect data from a public road trench. The first method used was total station, which collects the data with the aid of a prism. The Prism was placed in 8 points perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the track. The points provide the route of the cross-section. CAD was used for this method. Secondly, the same area was raised with the terrestrial laser scanner, which only collects data generated by a cloud of points. In all, 8 points were used to draw the same cross-section with the help of Cyclone software. Finally, a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) was generated using digital terrestrial photogrammetry to provide data for comparison using Photoscan software. The methods mentioned have their advantages and disadvantages. Using all 3 methods provides greater reliability and in this case all 3 methods measured within a few millimeters of each other. It was concluded that the methods in question are of great value for the determination of cross sections. Each of these methods can be great in different situations. Total stations greatest use is for small and specific stretches. Terrestrial photogrammetry is also for small areas. In contrast, terrestrial laser scanning is justified with greater viability in large treeless areas.
