Resumen
Duplex stainless steels are low carbon alloy steels, mainly associated with chromium, nickel and molybdenum that have a balanced composition to obtain the wrong microstructure with approximately equal volumetric fractions of ferrite and austenite; They are widely used because of their high mechanical strength and ductility, combined with good corrosion resistance. Duplex steels use special care with the potential for phase interference, such as sigma (σ) and chi (), which weaken the material and compromise its corrosion resistance. Therefore, avoiding the use of these compounds is a major challenge, especially in the development of welding procedures for these materials. This work visualizes the corrosion resistance characterization study of a sample of AID 318, welded by TIG welding, being evaluated by potentiodynamic tests and microstructural characterization. The results show that the weld negatively influenced the corrosion resistance of the material.
