Resumen
In this work it was studied the obtaining of iron and magnesium chelates by the chemical precipitation method. The synthesis of chelates was performed by mixing the metal nitrates with 8-hydroxyquinoline. The pH of the reaction medium was adjusted to 9.0 for iron and 9.5 for magnesium by the addition of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH). The precipitates were then filtered, washed, dried and then characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM and Thermal Analysis. Through FTIR it was possible to determine the C-N, C-O, Metal-N and Metal-O bonds, which confirms the chelation of the metal. The study of thermal behavior was performed by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis under heating rates of 5, 10 and 20 ° C min-1 and atmospheres of synthetic air and nitrogen. Through DTA curves, it was possible to observe endothermic peaks, which can be attributed to fusion and dehydration, which shows anhydrous iron chelate, exothermic peaks, under synthetic air atmosphere, for oxidative decomposition. Thus, it is concluded that the proposed chemical precipitation method proved to be technically feasible for chelate production and that the conditions of analysis affect the thermal decomposition behavior of chelates.
