Resumen
Cyclones are abundant elements in industries, and in order to enhance this device was used as a final step in its development CFD (computational fluid dynamics) that makes the simulation of flow in any type of object. For this study we used the finite volume method to obtain 10 results both for transient simulation as permanent, that were analyzed by comparison with the graphic article Slack et al, (2000) in which he makes the simulation of the same cyclonic separator and displays the results with an experimental, exactly what was done in this work, using as turbulence model the K-Epsilon method and RSM (Reynolds Stress Model) to obtain a better computational cost that could be simulated on a personal computer. In addition the work also addresses the most important ways of discretization, the experience of using a commercial software like STAR CCM + and the evolution of the cyclone since its invention.
