Resumen
This work presents the study of an AC-DC converter with power factor correction for charging electric vehicle batteries. Due the widespread exploration of fossil fuels and the great risks that these provide to the population’s health, electric vehicles have become an alternative to solving some of these problems. Justified by the need for charging a battery pack, the converter chosen is based on the VSI (Voltage Source Inverter) and Buck topologies containing a DC bus. The design methodology, qualitative and quantitative analysis, control system, forms of synchronism with the electrical grid and the results obtained in simulations are presented. A nominal power of 5 kW, switching frequency of 50 kHz and a battery pack of 50 kWh were used as parameters.
