Resumen
This study sought to understand the influences of media and family in the formation of eating habits of children aged 5-6 years, to rethink what is the role of school and more specifically the teaching of science in the education food. This study was administered to 16 children regularly enrolled in the public municipal Jaú, Garden in class II. Thus, it was discussed education as a tool for reflection and change, and how the school needs to occupy a significant role in education to ensure that children and their families are aware of the importance of a healthy, balanced diet for quality of life and prevention of chronic diseases like heart problems, high blood pressure and diabetes associated with overweight and obesity. The study emphasized the need for continued education of food, which should start from early childhood education, advising the family's involvement with the school to ensure effective changes in eating habits. The results showed that the partnership between school and family has brought positive influence on the eating behavior of children who have become more flexible about the testing and acceptance of new foods.
