Comparativo dos sistemas construtivos steel frame e wood frame para habitações de interesse social

Abstract

The construction industry in Brazil is in fully development and largely its rise is due to a large financial incentive, in the housing construction, mostly by government agencies, in an attempt to decrease the existing housing deficit in the country. Facing this, it is necessary to pursuit effective construction methods to accelerate the process without increasing costs and resulting in the same quality of the existing methods. In this context, arise new alternatives such as steel frame and wood frame construction systems, which are vastly applied in developed countries. This paper presents these systems, addressing its constructive steps with focus in the application of these systems in dwellings for the low-income population. In addition, this research provides results of costs and construction time of a housing complex using both systems and the construction of a conventional masonry house is used as a parameter for comparison as it is one of the most used systems in Brazil.
