Resumen
That study have the objective show up the the feasibility and advantages of implementing Small Hydropower Plants through the advantages that Brazil has with its great number of rivers that support this type of enterprise, and need of news ways to generate energy in the current Brazilian energy scenario. With the objective design and simulate a Francis Turbines rotor which is used in Small Hydropower Plants, was made two codes in Python language to make the rotor dimensions calculations, for that was used data from Usina do Buricá I, in Rio Grande do Sul. With that datas, the geometry was designed in CAD software and was made the simulation in software Solidworks, to analyze the pressure and velocity of the fluid in contact with the rotor of the Francis Turbine. The simulation showed that the velocity of the fluid in contact with the rotor is 6,2m/s with a pressure of 109,5 kPa. As a parameter to evaluate the results, was made a comparison between data obtained in a simulation for a Francis Turbine that has the same input data of the turbine developed in this study, but started from different decisions and different software. This comparison showed that the project developed in this study has inferior performance even though it is the most used model in the industry.
