Resumen
Due the huge economic impact of wear in industry, thermal spray processes were developed seeking to reduce the wear from applying more resistant coatings, on the surfaces of materials under degrading conditions. One of the thermal spray processes which has been increasingly being used, it is the process of HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel), which is carried out at low temperatures and high particle velocities. One of the types of mechanical wear is the erosion caused by cavitation, which occurs commonly in hydraulic turbines, pumps, and other equipment in contact with fluids. This study aims to analyse the influence of parameter settings modification during the process of HVOF spraying, in its cavitation resistance. Seeking thereby to make a correlation between the mechanical properties obtained in the coating, with the variations in the parameters, showing its influence on weight loss by cavitation. As a result, was found a correlation between the residual stress of the coating, with the loss of aggregate mass cavitation.
