Riscos ocupacionais a que estão expostas as empregadas domésticas

Abstract

Brazil is the country with the largest number of housemaids in the world. This occupation is not regulated yet, and people rarely think about health and safety of these workers. The purpose of this work is to identify the risks which these workers are exposed, through interviews, questionnaires and technical visit, assess and propose mitigation measures. The survey results showed that housemaids are exposed to physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and accident risks, most of them never received training or information about safety and have already suffered occupational accidents. The recommended action was the training of workers in health and safety so that they know the risks of their activities and the way how to prevent them.
