Resumen
This work aims to research and develop knowledge about surface design, more
specifically textile digital printing. Therefore the work was divided into two parts: the
first theoretical and the second practice. The first part starts points about mains
concepts of surface design, the surface itself and their historical aspects. After that
the field of textile surface design is explored specifically, its subdivisions are
presented, focusing on stamping their different typologies. In this chapter is explained
about a typology stamping titled hybrid, which has a direct relationship with the digital
printing process. After discussed the visual aspects of printing, the technical
processes of printing are presented according to the type of former used. For
physical former printing: silkscreen and rotatory process, and for digital ones:
sublimation and direct digital printing. The process analysis emphasizes technical
and aesthetic features of each technology, showing its limitations and potential. At
the long last of this theoretical part, the last chapter describes the stamping drawing
processes through rigid and flexible structures using conventional methods (module
and rapport) and non-conventional. In order to put into practice the knowledge
researched, the project of digital printing textile pieces is accomplished. The project,
in short, is described out of a adapted methodology adapted to the experimental
nature of this print: that aims to relate the shape of the body part and the shape of
the cloth and the chosen images.
