Resumen
This study had as a theme theTrends in Mathematics Education and its application as a methodological approach to teaching this subject. We sought to recognize the extent to which mathematics teachers know and apply these trends in their teaching methodology, whether they establish relationship among them and the teaching of mathematics, whether they find the easiness of using them and what trend is the easiest used. In a bibliographical study it was possible a better understanding of these ideas, briefly describing what each one the trends represents in terms of teaching methodology. Through a questionnaire it was possible to collect some data which were relevant to that research. All interviewed teachers claim to know the mentioned trends, they believe that its application would change and contribute to the quality of mathematics teaching, however, the greatest part show difficulty to this practice. Methodology isn’t anything ready, finished, but something that is created when there is sufficient reasoning therefore they suggest the need for study and reflection so that they safely improve their teaching practice.
