dc.description.abstractThis study aims to explain a research carried out on electronic waste with a focus on environmental education and had as general goal to verify and analyse whether the high School teachers, working in Pilar Maturana State School, located in Bairro Alto in the City of Curitiba – PR, include in their classes issues related to electronic waste. The specific goals were to analyse the documents that support basic education regarding electronic waste, as well as to develop the master's educational product, a didactic sequence with activities on the generation of electronic waste so that the Teaching staff can use in their classes. The reason for choosing this research topic occurred when realizing that high school students generally own, use and replace electronic devices constantly. Most are not aware that these devices are harmful to health, the environment and produce an immense amount of waste. The motivation of this project was to demonstrate to the teachers of the Pilar Maturana State School that it may be possible to approach the electronic waste and treat environmental education in its classes. To accomplish this qualitative study, we verified the National curriculum guidelines, the laws of education guidelines and Bases, the national curricular parameters, the pedagogical political project at the Pilar Maturana State School and the Planning, to ascertain whether in one of them the electronic waste was perceived and how the environmental education was inserted. After this analysis off data collection, the questionnaire was applied with closed and open questions about the electronic waste with a focus on environmental education with the teachers working in high school, and the results were tabulated and the interviews started with a Professional of each high school discipline of the Pilar Maturana State School, accounting for twelve interviewees. After the conclusion of the interviews, the results were transcribed and tabulated. All stages of the process were essential in the rationale of the work and in the production of the master's product, a didactic material that presents concepts and laws on environmental education and electronic waste in the first chapter and, in the second chapter suggestions of Activities, in a sequence of thirteen classes. The teachers effectively participated in the research, reporting that the issues pertinent to the electronic waste and environmental education in the classroom will be more relevant, with the aim of demonstrating to students that this type of rubbish is harmful to health and the Environment, and mediate an awareness that we need to conserve the environment, thus avoiding exploitation.
