Resumen
The study was conducted in the city of Londrina-PR, with the general objective of analyzing the behavior of certain atmospheric pollutants in an urban canyon, as well as the background concentrations, to validate a dispersion model of pollutants and propose scenarios of quality improvement donate. Data were collected on black carbon (BC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and fine particulate matter (MP2.5), with equipment on both sides of the canyon, on the roof of a building located in the central region and on the campus of the Technological University Federal of Pananá, these last two being used as representative sites of concentration of urban background and meteorological data. It is expected that traffic directly influences the behavior of these pollutants, mainly NOx and BC, which are derived from the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, presenting two daily peaks that resemble the peak flows of urban buses inside the canyon at 7:00 a.m. and at 6:00 p.m. For the modeling, the Operational Street Pollution Model (OSPM), which simulates pollutant concentrations on both sides of the canyon, will be used using data input such as meteorology, background concentrations, canyon geometry, county vehicular fleet and flow of vehicles. After the validation of the model, several scenarios will be dealt with in order to improve the air quality in the canyon, such as the modernization or electrification of the fleet, traffic management scenarios such as limiting the flow of buses and even cars. It will also be possible to quantify the impact caused by the implementation of diesel cars in the London fleet, since the emissions of this type of motor contributes to the vehicular pollution.
