Abstract

This paper presents a practical approach of the differences between two types of local area networks: wired and wireless. Addresses the implementation costs, transmission capacity and practicality of both. Presents the use of software, which was used to show quantitative and comparative results. Grounded by a field survey, the study found, through testing how each network behaves and which one brings more satisfactory performance metrics. Also simulated a small business environment, where the two forms of computing infrastructure were installed, tested and compared.
