Análise da potencialidade eólica da região de Guarapuava - PR

Abstract

The present work presents a study of the wind potential in the Guarapuava - PR region, briefly discussing the history of the use of wind energy by humans, theoretical concepts and the current panorama of wind energy in the country, its importance in electric power generation and growth potential of this modality. The wind power theory, Betz's Law and Weibull's distribution were used to standardize wind histograms. Through wind data, obtained from the meteorological stations of the city of Guarapuava and the district of Entre Rios, an analysis of the wind potential was carried out by extrapolating the wind speeds, creating histograms of the winds containing the uniformity given by the Weibull distribution and the percentage of wind obtained at each speed during one year. Using the histogram obtained along with the power curve of a wind generator, it was possible to calculate the capacity factor of the region using that wind turbine, thus verifying the feasibility of implementing a wind farm in the regions studied.
