Resumen
Wheat (Triticumaestivum L.) has high economic and nutritional importance, being one of the most produced and consumed grains in the world.Several variables determine the wheat grain quality, including: Physical properties of grain, protein content, and starch content. The sedimentation test with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is a practical and easy method to be performed. The test has as a principle insolubility in acidic media of proteins, which form gluten and provide an estimate of gluten strength by volume of the measured sediment. This study aimed to evaluate the wheat yield and precipitation of proteinsthrough SDS method, in wheat varieties in multi-site trials. Six commercial varieties, grown in six sites, were used, three from the value for cultivation and use (VCU) 1 region and three from the VCU 2 region. The experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with three replications. Each plot consisted of six rows of five meters long, spaced 20 cm apart. The harvest was mechanically done and grain yield corrected to 13% moistureand converted to kg ha-1. The sedimentation volume was determined using the method described by Peña et al. (1990). The variety Guamirim have stood out for sedimentation volume, and the TBIO Sinuelo for grain yield. The region of Ponta Grossa was revealed as one of the places where climatic conditions are more favorable for grain yield and Abelardo Luz favorable for sedimentation volume of the wheat cultivars evaluated.
