Resumen
Over the years, there has been in the electrical power systems, an increase in the requirements about the quality of the concessionaires services and, thus, the need to improve network operations. The use of optimization techniques is an option for this, being the process of solving optimization problems in electrical power systems known as optimal power flow. In this work is analyzed and applied a type of interior point method, the primal-dual interior point method. This method can deal with different types of problems, and the problem of this work is minimize the active losses of an electrical power system with inequalities restrictions in the voltage module of the bars and currents in the lines. The analysis and application are performed in WSCC 9 bars and IEEE 14 bars system, being checked the efficiency of the method, analyzed the performance of the method when narrowing the feasible region, observed its operation when the method is initialized in a point that does not obey the restrictions of the problem and planned the operation according to the growth of the load and in some contingencies.
