En este trabajo se abordan tres fundamentales documentos para tener una
comprensión histórica de la identidad latinoamericana: la Carta del jesuita
Juan Viscardo y Guzmán a los Españoles Americanos publicada en 1792, la
Carta de Jamaica de Simón Bolívar escrita en 1815 y el Tratado Constitutivo de la Unidad de Naciones Sudamericana de 2008. El trabajo está estructurado en cuatro partes: 1. Dos hombres, un continente y un destino común, 2. El cotejo de los documentos, 3. Embrión del Estado nacional sudamericano (1808- 1815), 4. El surgimiento del Estado nacional sudamericano. This paper analyses three fundamental documents for having a historical
understanding of the Latin American identity: The Letter of the Jesuit Juan
Viscardo and Guzman to the Spanish American published 1792, Simon Bolivar’s
Letter of Jamaica written in 1815 and the Treaty establishing of the Union of
South American Nations in 2008. The paper is organised in four parts: 1. Two men, a continent and a common destination, 2. The comparison of documents, 3. The origin of the South American Nation State (1808-1815), 4. The emergence of the South American. Nation State. 11-42
