The interest of this work focuses on being able to understand the relationship
between Brain and Behavior; to carry out this understanding, neuropsychology is
fundamental; this is seen according to Oxford University (1999), as the study of the
relationships between brain functions, psychic structure and sociocognitive
systematization in its normal and pathological aspects, in this order of ideas, it is
important to highlight that the different explanations of This science has a purely
clinical approach, although this study continues to focus on the brain-behavior
correlation, the investigative inclination moves away from the pathological and
focuses on the sports context, specifically soccer; Authors such as Jubert (2001),
outline that neuropsychology at the sports level aims to study the brain work of an
athlete and likewise establish the functional brain structures involved and that allow
successful and coordinated movement. Within the background, a study developed
by Vestberg (2012) is cited. in Sweden, the author sought to identify if through
neuropsychological assessment he could predict sports success, he analyzed
creativity, response inhibition, cognitive flexibility among others, the chosen
population was a group of soccer players, of both sexes, Los findings found that the
valued functions of the athletes were above the standard population, likewise,
Faubert (2013). I was able to find that elite adult athletes obtained significant results
in executive function tests, compared to more amateur athletes and doctoral
students. In accordance with what Miyake, Emerson, & Freidman (2000) state,
where they state that the three main executive functions in humans are inhibitory
control, working memory and cognitive flexibility, the findings found denote at the
context level sports, that attention, decision making, information processing, working
memory, mental flexibility, inhibitory control or visuospatial abilities, are important
functions for the soccer player's sporting success.
