New model for investing in public education in the past 10 years, Brazil has invested heavily to make sure more Brazilian children are able to go to school. The problem now is the quality of those investments: Not using resources efficiently to improve the quality of education is a serious concern at a time when investment in public education is expected to surge. Fortunately, as Solange Monteiro discovers, school systems in Ceará and Rio de Janeiro states have come up with ideas that have proven to be effective and cost-beneficial.
