The objective of this study is to research central and peripheral images of the city of Belo Horizonte through a product image configuration technique. The study used the interview recording analysis of content in order to list the ideas that were mentioned, generating the image attributes researched. The research was also made using printed questionnaire and two judges to make a list of the attributes. It was observed that the attributes that represent the city central image was the Serra do Curral, the beautiful horizon and the sunset, as in the cognitive category. In the symbolic category it was observed that security and life quality were well evaluated. Through this images configuration it was possible making suggestions of future actions towards their improvement and contributing to the city progress and development.O estudo teve por objetivo pesquisar as imagens central e periférica da cidade de Belo Horizonte por meio da utilização da técnica de configuração de imagem de produto. Utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo das gravações das entrevistas, em que se procurou listar as idéias que foram mencionadas pelos respondentes, gerando, assim, os atributos da imagem pesquisada. Neste estudo, as pesquisas foram preenchidas em formato impresso, e dois juízes fizeram a listagem dos atributos. Observou-se que os atributos integrantes da imagem central da cidade, na categoria cognitiva, foram a Serra do Curral, o belo horizonte e o pôr-do-sol. Na categoria simbólica, foram bem avaliados os atributos segurança e qualidade de vida. Por meio da configuração dessas imagens, é possível fazer sugestões de ações futuras que possam vir a melhorá-las, de modo a contribuir para o progresso e o desenvolvimento da cidade.
